Meet the Groveton PTA Officers

Steve is father of Shane a first grader who participates in the Spanish Immersion program. He is married to Melanie Rhinehart Van Tassell. Steve moved to the Washington, DC area in 1994 and has lived in various neighborhoods in Arlington and the City of Alexandria before moving to the Woodstone neighborhood since 2008. He was the first father to join the MOMS Club of Alexandria - South for stay-at home parents when he joined in February of 2014. Steve actively participated in club activities and served one year as Administrative VP and one year as Secretary during his tenure in the MOMS Club. Steve has been a volunteer manager in the Pioneer Baseball league for the past four years.

George Newbury is the parent of a 2nd Grader and Kindergartner. He has lived in the Groveton neighborhood since 2013. George grew up in the Northern Virginia area and also Las Vegas, NV. He graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Physics and from the University of Redlands with a Master's in Geographic Information Systems. George has worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers since 2004.

Sierra Sellman is a NOVA native and Groveton Alum (a 76'er!). She is mother of Logan (3) and Evelyn, a first grader in Ms. McLeary's spanish immersion class. She is excited for the opportunity to become more involved in school-wide initiatives and the decisions affecting our kids' education. Professionally, Sierra works as a supervisory data scientist with the DoD.
