Celebrating 150 Years of Groveton
Tiger Family Soccer Fest is part of a very special year for our school community: Groveton Elementary is celebrating 150 years of education!
Groveton's story began in 1876, when a one-room schoolhouse was established in the community. Over the decades, the school grew and changed alongside the surrounding community. A two-room school opened in 1925, followed by a new Groveton Elementary in 1933. In 1972, the school moved to its current location on Harrison Lane.
Today, Groveton celebrates a diverse community shaped by generations of students, families, educators and neighbors.
This anniversary gives us an opportunity to honor the many people and stories that have shaped Groveton and to celebrate the vibrant community we are today.

Celebrate Groveton Elementary’s 150th anniversary with a day of soccer, food, games, creativity and community!
Following the special guest speakers, Tiger Family Soccer Fest is a family-friendly PTA fundraiser with something for everyone. Admission is free, soccer games are free and everyone in our community is invited.
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Outdoor Field
Soccer games begin at 11:30 a.m., with three separate 20-minute games throughout the event.
Games will be organized by grade level
Soccer is free for all
Everyone is welcome! No prior soccer experience is needed
On-site registration will be available (starting at 11 a.m.)

Our Goal: Raise $3,500 for Groveton Elementary!
The current outdoor space needs a transformation. Funds raised at Tiger Family Soccer Fest will help support outdoor enhancements and student wellness programs at Groveton, with primary priorities including:
Basketball Court Restriping: Giving our kids crisp lines for competitive basketball games.
Vibrant Asphalt Obstacle Courses: Custom-painted interactive paths to keep our K-6 students moving and active during recess.
New Sports Gear: Replacing worn-out equipment.
Every concession purchase and spirit wear sale will also help support the PTA's efforts. Help us kick our fundraising goal into the goal!

Coordinate logistics, schedule, supplies, volunteers and activity areas. Determine tables, tents, stations, signage, field layout and traffic flow.

Welcome families,register families for free soccer, direct families to the appropriate field/game, explain where activities and concessions are located.

Hot-food handling/preparation, drink/snack station, cotton candy operator, restocking, food serving and clean up.

Run the face-painting station, mangae the line, clean/reset between child

Set out chalk, explain the activity, keep the area organized, monitor supplies
Spirit Wear Sales & Tie-Dye Station: Volunteers needed!
Sell t-shirts, explain the tie-dye option, distribute supplies, set up/clean up tie-dye table.

Help set up tables, concessions, activities and equipment. Post signage, balloons and directional signs.

Help with trash/recycling, break down of stations and tables, collect lost and found, conduct final field check.

Before volunteering, please complete the FCPS Volunteer application. To ensure the safety of students and staff, FCPS has launched a new centralized volunteer-management system. All volunteers and chaperones, regardless of level, must complete the online registration.

Do I need to pre-register to play soccer?
Do I need to pre-register to play soccer?
No pre-registration necessary! Just stop by the open registration tables to sign up you and/or your child for the FREE soccer games. Registration tables will open at 11 a.m. and the first soccer game will kick off at 11:30 a.m.
Is the event cash only?

Cash or credit card will be accepted for all concessions and spirit wear.

You're welcome to bring your own t-shirt(s) to the tie-dye station. We'll also have the new 2026/27 t-shirt available for $15!

Since parking at the school is limited, we encourage our families to carpool, walk, or park on Groveton Road and use the crosswalk on Harrison Road.
Walk past the main office doors toward the rear outdoor field. Look for the orange and black balloons!
